All Aboard the Knowledge Bus! - 07/04/2009

Thorpe Kilworth recently refurbished Knowsley Council’s Knowledge Bus which was launched on Tuesday 24 March outside the education offices in Huyton.
The Bus, named as the Knowledge Bus by pupil Rachelle Parr from Higherside Secondary School, is a new travelling centre for learning and will tour Knowsley throughout the year.
With interactive displays and exhibitions from primary schools, Centres for Learning and educational opportunities for those aged 16 and over, the bus will provide useful information and activities on future schooling in Knowsley.
Thorpe fitted the Bus out in a classroom style providing tables, chairs and a teaching wall. The Bus will also contain laptops and will provide teaching experts to help youngsters and their families get on board with educational opportunities in Knowsley.
The Knowledge Bus will tour Knowsley’s primary, secondary and sixth form centres throughout the year, as well as being present at local landmarks.
“The opportunity to refurbish the bus presented itself as a result of the relationship that Thorpe Kilworth has built up with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council through involvement with the Knowsley BSF programme” explained Operations Director, Alan Backhouse. “We recently completed the FF&E for Christ the King Catholic & Church of England Centre for Learning and were happy to help with this project.”
Jane Janaway, Communications Officer (Directorate of Children & Family Services) at Knowsley Council said “We are really pleased with the work Thorpe Kilworth did – thank you!”
