Our Skills Pledge - 07/10/2009
The Skills Pledge is a voluntary, public commitment made by an organisation to invest in the skills of its workforce. The Skills Pledge is open to organisations of all sizes, from all sectors, with a workforce in England in the private, public and voluntary sectors. It was launched two years in a partnership between employers, employees and the Government.
Thorpe has signed the skills pledge with a view to:
Actively encouraging and supporting its employees to gain the skills and qualifications to meet the needs of its business.
Further supporting its employees to acquire basic literacy and numeracy skills.
Raising its employees' skills and competencies to improve its organisational performance.
Thorpe's Organisational Development Director, Ian Stain said "I would encourage any ethical company to sign the pledge and show their commitment to their employees. We fully support the objectives of the pledge and were already applying its principles."
