The Big School Makeover - 30/09/2009
The Big School Makeover is a national programme brought to you by the British Council for School Environments – the UK’s leading charity in education, design and construction. It aims to encourage teachers, parents and young people to get involved in refreshing/refurbishing a classroom, dining room or even an outside space.Thorpe Kilworth, a member of the BCSE, has provided some loose furniture for one of the projects - Portslade Community College, a secondary school in Brighton. The makeover is taking place in their dining space this week (w/c 28 Sep 2009), which is the old school hall and is called the Oasis. It is currently very tired looking and under-used. The school want to transform this space into a lively, social hub at the heart of the school where students want to gather at break and lunch-times to sit and chat, eat, and work.
The makeover is due to be completed by 1700 on Wed 30 Sep!
