Thorpe Kilworth recently donated £150 towards the third year design students at De Montfort University for their exhibition stand when they present their work at the New Designers Exhibition in London in July this year.

Thorpe Kilworth won the FF&E contract for Corby Academy in Autumn 2007. Wates Construction is the main contractor and the two companies worked together on the London (Edgware) Academy. Fosters is the architect with whom Thorpe worked closely on the recently opened Thomas Deacon Academy in Peterborough.

The inaugural BCSE Awards 2008 took place at Old Trafford on Tuesday 12 February with Thorpe Kilworth as one of the main sponsors. Neil Logue, Thorpe’s Managing Director, was delighted to present two awards on the evening:

Sunfield is a national UK charity specialising in the care of children with severe and complex learning needs and is recognised internationally for its work with children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASD). The charity offers full time residential care and education and provision for day students as well as carrying out ground-breaking research into ways of delivering improved care and teaching to the children.

Thorpe Kilworth sponsored the South West Secondary Design and Technology Conference held by Devon Education Services at the end of November last year in Torquay.

Thorpe Kilworth has recently signed a three year agreement with Balfour Beatty which includes involvement in the BSF Programme for Knowsley Schools and Sandon High School.

Funding settlement to continue the biggest school building programme for generations -

Secretary of State for Children, Schools and Families, Ed Balls, today welcomed the Government’s Comprehensive Spending Review which delivered a £200m boost to modernise primary school buildings, and an additional £250m to help ensure that all children at school are ready to learn and able to benefit from truly personalised services and support.

The Thomas Deacon Academy in Peterborough was completed in August 2007 and opened its doors to its pupils on 10 September 2007. The Academy has replaced John Mansfield School, Hereward Community College and Deacon's School. Work has been progressing on the site since August 2005.

Thorpe Kilworth was responsible for designing, manufacturing and fitting out 177 rooms of the newly completed York College which opened its doors to students on 12 September 2007.

Thorpe Kilworth has won the contracts to supply and install the fixed furniture for both Corby Academy and Leicester Grammar.

Cementing a solid relationship with engineering and construction giant Balfour Beatty, and proving itself equal to partnering them on very large-scale projects, Thorpe Kilworth has helped bring in on time the first tranche of a two-phase project is to transform secondary education in the Nottinghamshire district of Bassetlaw.

Thinking outside the box, Thorpe Kilworth is proud to be credited as the founding partner of a new UK-based charity Education For All – launched this year as a social enterprise initiative that explores potential for recycling or re-using the unwanted furniture and equipment discarded by UK schools.

Entitled ‘Building the Future’, the 2007 Conference of the NAAIDT (National Association of Advisers and Inspectors in Design and Technology) recently took place in Newcastle Upon Tyne and provided an opportunity for Thorpe Kilworth to showcase the company, its bespoke products and services.
