World Learning Conference - 09/11/2009

I will be at the BCSE's World Learning Conference this week.  It takes place on Wednesday and Thursday.  The main part of the conference is at the Halewood Centre for Learning in Knowsley.  Thorpe Kilworth has been heavily involved with the Knowsley Learning Centres as a JPI partner of Balfour Beatty so it will be good to see the students working in learning environments we have helped to create.

I am due to speak at the conference on acoustics, furniture and flexible spaces.  Fortunately, my co-speaker is Emma Greenland of the WSP Group which is a global consultancy providing advice on all aspects of environmental, energy, sustainability, climate change, and business risk issues.  Emma is part of WSP's global acoustics team.  Back in April 2009 she was honoured with an award from the Institute of Acoustics, the UK's national professional body for those working in acoustics, noise and vibration.   Emma has won the 'Peter Barnett Memorial Student Award 2009' for her PhD on classroom acoustics and speech intelligibility so I am in good hands!
