Looking Ahead - 31/08/2009
As the Bob Dylan songs says "times are a changing". We have an election looming next year and opinion polls indicate that the Tory Party has a commanding lead so we need to base our future on the likelihood that, this time next year, the Conservatives will be in power.
What does that mean for the education sector and the current schools rebuilding programme? The Conservatives have expressed doubts about some of those building programmes but we know they are in favour of the Academies programme. They have also taken a keen interest in KIPP Schools (Knowledge is Power Programme -
www.kipp.org) in the US and I am led to believe that they are keen to investigate the ethos of the KIPP schools. Whilst at the CEFPI Conference in Washington I intend to visit a KIPP school or two - there are currently 7 in Washington alone.
So now is the time to start thinking about how a Tory Government might affect our business within the school building programmes and what we can do to stay ahead of the game.
